Meet Kayla
Kayla is a Forensic and Clinical Counseling Intern who brings real-world experience in residential and clinical mental health settings to her work with clients. Under the supervision of licensed professionals, she provides individual, family, and group therapy using a trauma-informed and client-centered approach. She supports people facing mental health challenges, family system issues, and involvement with the legal system.
In Kayla's previous roles, she supported clients with severe mental illness by providing emotional support, teaching daily living skills, running therapeutic groups, and managing crisis situations. These experiences helped her develop strong communication, de-escalation, and documentation skills—all of which she brings into her work a counseling intern at AmWell Group.
Kayla’s background makes her especially well-prepared to work with clients involved in the court system. She supports families through services like supervised visitation, co-parenting, family reunification, and parent-child trauma therapy.
Kayla is passionate about providing ethical, culturally sensitive care. She values working as part of a collaborative team and continues to grow her clinical skills through regular supervision and training. Above all, she is committed to creating a safe, respectful space where clients can heal, grow, and feel empowered.
